All services are registered under the NDIS and delivered by qualified, locally-based clinicians who coordinate with each other.

What each clinician actually does for you
Allied health descriptions are often written so vaguely that families cannot tell which clinician they need. Select a discipline to see what it genuinely covers, who it suits, and which part of your plan pays for it.
Occupational Therapy Melbourne
Occupational therapy is the practical business of doing things — showering safely, getting out the front door, managing a kitchen, holding down a job. An OT looks at the task, the environment and the person, then changes whichever of the three is easiest to change.
Our OTs work predominantly in homes rather than clinics, because a bathroom assessed on a clinic plinth is guesswork. This is also the discipline that prescribes assistive technology and home modifications — if you are waiting on a ramp, a hoist or a bathroom rebuild, an OT report is usually the document standing between you and the funding.

- Functional capacity assessments for plan review
- Assistive technology prescription and trial
- Home modification assessment and reporting
- Falls prevention and bathroom safety
- Sensory strategies and routine building
- Seating, positioning and wheelchair scripts
Speech Pathology Melbourne
Speech pathology covers far more than speech sounds. Our speech pathologists work on understanding and being understood in every form — spoken language, gesture, communication devices, literacy, social communication, and the confidence to use any of them in public.
The second half of the discipline is swallowing. Coughing on fluids, weight loss and recurrent chest infections all warrant a prompt assessment, because dysphagia carries genuine medical risk. We assess, then write the mealtime management plan your support workers actually follow.

- Speech clarity and expressive language
- Understanding and following instructions
- Swallowing assessment and mealtime plans
- AAC devices, boards and team training
- Social communication and literacy support
- Communication after stroke or brain injury
Psychological Counselling Melbourne
Living with disability carries a psychological load that is routinely underestimated — grief after an acquired injury, anxiety about independence, isolation, the exhaustion of constant self-advocacy, and the strain all of this places on families.
Our counselling services provide a confidential space to work through that, using evidence-based approaches adapted to how you communicate and process information. Where a participant also has a psychosocial disability, we coordinate with support coordinators and workers so strategies are reinforced across the week rather than living and dying in a fifty-minute appointment.

- Anxiety, low mood and emotional regulation
- Adjustment after injury, illness or diagnosis
- Grief, loss and identity change
- Confidence, motivation and routine
- Social isolation and relationship strain
- Family and carer support sessions
Exercise Physiology Melbourne
An accredited exercise physiologist prescribes movement as clinical treatment — for chronic conditions, neurological presentations, musculoskeletal pain, deconditioning after a hospital stay, and the very common problem of losing physical capacity simply because moving became hard.
This is not personal training. Programs are built around your diagnosis, your medication, your fatigue pattern and your living situation, then progressed as capacity returns. Many participants train in their own lounge room with almost no equipment, which removes the two biggest barriers: transport and self-consciousness.

- Strength, balance and falls reduction
- Mobility, walking tolerance and endurance
- Cerebral palsy, MS, Parkinson's and stroke
- Chronic pain and fatigue management
- Reconditioning after hospital admission
- Home programs with minimal equipment
NDIS Telehealth Melbourne
Telehealth is a delivery method, not a discipline — a secure video session with the same occupational therapist, speech pathologist, counsellor or exercise physiologist you would otherwise see in person. It exists to remove the drive across Melbourne, not to replace the clinician.
It suits participants managing mobility limits, tight schedules, immunocompromised households, or simply living further from a clinic. Because there is no travel component to charge, more of your funding goes into actual session time, and appointments are often available sooner than an in-person slot.

- Available across OT, speech, counselling and EP
- No travel charges against your plan
- Sessions anywhere in Victoria, not just Melbourne
- Simple video link — no app or account needed
- Ideal for rural, remote or mobility-limited participants
- Can run alongside in-person sessions on the same goals
NDIS Paediatrics Melbourne
Paediatrics is a dedicated stream for children rather than a scaled-down version of adult therapy. Our paediatric clinicians work through play, not table-top tasks, and sessions run shorter and more frequent than clinic appointments because children engage better in bursts.
Much of the value sits in parent and carer coaching between sessions — we are training the adults around the child to carry strategies through the week, which is where most progress actually happens. Delivery is family-centred and flexible: at home, at kindergarten or school, in clinic, or by telehealth when travel or waiting rooms are the bigger obstacle.

- Paediatric occupational therapy and speech pathology
- Early childhood, kindergarten and school-age support
- Play-based sessions built around the child
- Parent and carer coaching between visits
- Coordination with teachers and early childhood educators
- Available at home, school, clinic or via telehealth
Your local NDIS
allied health partner
Caring Hearts Home Care is a trusted registered NDIS provider delivering allied health across Greater Melbourne — from the western suburbs of Werribee, Tarneit, Williams Landing and Point Cook, through the CBD, to Dandenong, Springvale and the south-east.
Our clinicians are registered with AHPRA or their relevant peak body, and every one works the way allied health should work under the NDIS: assessing you where the difficulty actually occurs, setting goals you chose rather than goals we assumed, and writing documentation that survives contact with a plan reviewer.
Because five disciplines sit under one roof, your clinicians share notes and align their goals — a communication goal and a functional goal pulling in different directions can waste a full year of funding.

Answers before you book a session
If your question about NDIS allied health in Melbourne is not covered here, ask it directly — we would rather answer now than after your funding is spent.
No. Unlike Medicare-funded allied health, NDIS therapy does not require a GP referral or care plan. If the funding sits in your plan, contact us directly and book. A referral or medical report is useful background for the clinician, but it is not a gate you have to pass through first.
Tell us the problem rather than the discipline. As a rough guide: difficulty doing a task or needing equipment is occupational therapy; difficulty communicating or swallowing is speech pathology; distress, mood or adjustment is psychological counselling; strength and mobility is exercise physiology. For children who struggle with travel or waiting rooms, telehealth paediatrics is often the better starting point.
Sessions run by video from your home, usually shorter and more frequent than clinic appointments because children engage better in bursts. The clinician works through play, screen-shared activities and parent coaching, with a parent present throughout. Telehealth also removes travel charges, so more of your funding goes into actual therapy time.
Both, and for most assessments we prefer to come to you. Function is context-dependent — a transfer that looks fine on a clinic plinth may be impossible in a narrow ensuite. We also see participants at school, in workplaces and in the community. Clinic appointments are available at our Melbourne CBD, Williams Landing and Dandenong offices.
We work that out with you before booking anything. Send us your plan and we will map the Capacity Building budgets against a realistic schedule, including report writing and travel, which both draw from the same funding. Knowing you have twelve sessions rather than an unlimited supply changes how you and the clinician prioritise.
Yes, and we treat it as core work rather than an afterthought. Functional capacity assessments, therapy progress reports, assistive technology assessments and home modification reports are all provided, written with the plan reviewer as the intended reader.
All three arrangements are welcome — self-managed, plan-managed and NDIA-managed. We provide itemised invoices showing session time, travel and report writing separately, which makes self-management easier to administer and gives plan managers what they need without chasing us.
Typically one to three weeks depending on discipline and location, and we will give you an honest wait time rather than adding you to a list and going quiet. Telehealth appointments are usually available sooner. Urgent referrals — hospital discharge, swallowing risk, or equipment needed before a plan expires — are prioritised, so mention the deadline when you contact us.
Tell us the goal, and we will tell you which clinician you need
One call, no obligation. We will check which part of your plan funds it and give you an honest wait time before anything is booked.
